Angry Residents Set Ablaze Robbery Suspect In Delta

Residents of Agbor, a community in Ika south local government area of Delta State, have set ablaze a man accused of stealing motorcycle in the area.

The gory picture of the lifeless man was shared on Facebook by an indigene of the ancient Agbor kingdom.

The incident occured on Saturday July 22nd 2023.

There have been reports of notorious stealing in the area especially motorbikes by suspected criminals who attack unsuspecting members of the public and cart away their bikes and other valuables.

Usually, arrested thieves are handed over to a local security outfit, called Agbor Gha-Ihun, headed by Comr. Monday Kiyem, who would in turn hand such suspects to the police.

However, it was learnt that the angry mob took laws into their hands and embarked on jungle justice when the heinous crime persisted.

A post on Facebook, reads: “Behold the remains of alleged motorcycle thief set ablaze in Agbor today”.

A Facebook user, Mabel Nhozi Azubuike, wrote, “It was so sad, dis was how de stole my husband’s 4months old CG he packed just to enter house n come out, d tin be us like film, till today we haven’t recover from it,,, rest in peace man”.

Another user, Joy Blessed said: “I don’t know what to say because my sister and Mom where rubbed yesterday night they collected her phone and almost shot them it was God that save them”.

The various reactions affirmed the increase in the crime in the area.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident but could not give details of the identity of the victim.
