The fight against child abuse in Nigeria, seemed to be defeated as cases of abuse on children are on the increase.
But nemesis caught up with one Mr. Hillary Apeh, a 40-year-old man residing in Maryland Estates 3-3, Onitsha, was arrested by operatives attached to 3-3 police station.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State, SP Haruna Mohammed, the suspect brutally assaulted his niece, one Chioma Ogbu, a female of 9-years old of same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.
Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body”.
He disclosed that the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, revealing that investigation is ongoing after which the suspect would be brought to book.
