The arrests followed sporadic gunshots reported around midnight on February 15 and 16, 2026, behind the Cottage Hospital in the Kunduli/Tingno axis of Lamurde LGA.

Police operatives on patrol reportedly encountered a group of young men who allegedly verbally assaulted security personnel and made provocative remarks, prompting their immediate arrest.

Those arrested are Abiola Ayuba (27), Mark Yakubu (22), Yamauyinzin Elias (18), Gabriel Danladi (22), Yunarwe Barnabas (21), and Japheth Agai (20).

Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje, confirmed the development, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ involvement in the reported gunshots and any possible link to the communal unrest in the area.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, called on residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies.

He assured that the Command remains committed to sustaining peace and stability in Lamurde and adjoining communities that have experienced recurring tensions.
