A strong opposition voice against the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration in Delta State, Hon. Christian Moses Abeh, has raised alarm over alleged threat on his life and family by officials of the Delta state government.
Hon. Abeh, the State Coordinator, Deltans Lives Matter (DLM), has consistently rebuked the state government over alleged insensitiveness in the governance of the state.
The Special Assistant (SA), on Media and Publicity to Hon. Abeh, Mr. Hallen Eghwubare, in a press statement claimed that an undisclosed personnel of the Department of State Security (DSS) called him to go on exile with his family members over “assassination threat”.
Hear him: “This article is to bring to the knowledge of the general public, most especially Deltans at home and in diaspora, with regards ‘assassination threat’ on the person of Hon. Christian Moses Abeh, Coordinator of Deltans Lives Matter (DLM).
“In the early hours of today, Friday, 4th of September, 2020, Hon. Christian Moses Abeh, received an intelligent phone call from a top ranking DSS official in Asaba, Delta State, warning him vehemently to as a matter of urgency, flee from his abode in Delta State and take refuge in an unknown destination outside the shores of Delta State, stating that plans are in motion to assassinate him due to his incessant publications and recent EFCC evidence-based whistle blowing report he made against the Delta State Government.
“As we speak right now, Hon. Christian Moses Abeh’s life is under massive threat as well as that of his family. Is it a crime for individuals to speak truth to power with regards ‘Good Governance’? Is it a crime for citizens to objectively criticize the antecedents of those in corridors of power? Where has Hon. Christian Moses Abeh gone wrong leading to assassination threats on his life?
“As the saying goes, “in every rumour, there is an element of truthfulness”. Hence, in accordance with the assassinaton warning received from the DSS official in Asaba, Hon. Christian Moses Abeh has done the needful by reporting the assassination threat as well as the audio phone call he received to the appropriate security agencies for perusal.
“Afterwhich, he was mandated to relocate from the insecured shores of Delta State to an unknown destination, pending when investigations into the assassination threat has been uncovered. Also, his family has been asked to vacate Delta State with immediate effect.
“Sequel to this, every member of Deltans Lives Matter (DLM) are enjoined to remain calm and pray for the safety of Hon. Christian Moses Abeh, as security agents, including the EFCC are already entangled with the saga.
“Conclusively, just in case anything accidental, unholy, irrational, unjust or evil befall Hon. Christian Moses Abeh, the entire world should know the source”, Hon. said.
At press time, text message sent to the Commissioner of Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, was not replied.
