3 Killed, Others Injured, As Bandits Open Fire At Motor Park In Delta

At least three people have been killed while several others left with bullet wounds as armed gunmen opened fire on drivers and passengers at Mofor junction motor park in Orhuwhorun, Udu local government area of Delta State.

It was gathered that it was not clear if the gun wielding men were armed robbers fleeing the area after a robbery or cultists who have been terrorizing the area.

An eyewitness account said that the gunmen were heading towards Otokutu axis of the ever-busy Delta Steel Company (DSC) expressway when they ran into a traffic at the Mofor junction and opened fire.

One source said that to evade possible police interception, the gunmen had released several volume of gun shots to scare motorists from their way and in the process shot about three persons dead.

It was gathered that several persons were hit by stray bullet while scampering for their dear lives following the sporadic shooting by the suspected armed men.

Police Public Relation Officer for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the development, however said that two suspects were gunned down by policemen who responded swiftly to the attack.

He said that items recovered from the fleecing hoodlums’ abandoned vehicle include one AK-47 rifle, a pump action gun and three locally made guns.
