A final year student of the River State University, whose name is yet to be disclosed have been shot dead by boys suspected to be cultists.
Trouble started on Thursday August 19th 2021, when the suspected cultists blocked the final year student at the Cafeteria, shot him and he died on the spot.
It was leant that a group of suspected cultists had trailed the victim to a Cafeteria near the Faculty of Management Science about 9:20am, where one of the assailants brought out a gun and shot the unidentified student on the head.
An eyewitness said: ”He died on the spot and the situation caused serious panic. Students and people started running helter-skelter and we are writing exams now.”
Report says the Public Relations Officer of the University, Harcourt Whyte, confirmed the incident.
“Those guys have been arrested and the police is investigating,” he said.
But when contacted, the Rivers State Police Command’s Control Room, the female respondent said the incident has not been reported to the Control Room.
She however promised to get back to The Story, after reaching the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
