Few days to the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, research have shown that major parties in the state have started making frantic overtures to get certain political heavyweights to their parties.
One of such person is the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Pastor Law Ughamadu.
According to information from a top politician in the state that did not want to be named, Pastor Ughamadu’s records speak for him, and has attracted so much interest in the preacher.
Hear him “Pastor is the candidate of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Anambra State. He has a very influential constituency and massive support from the Christian community across Anambra.
He is a renown pastor of Dominion City Church, and he has planted many churches within and outside the state, and at the moment, there are over 90 Dominion City Churches in the state.
But it’s not just the church that makes him popular. He is popular among other men of God, among pentecostal churches, the Roman Catholic and the Anglican church.
“Believe it or not, he is the most popular deputy governorship candidate in Anambra State at the moment, so he is hot cake.
“Because of the recent wave of defections across the state, the major parties are all scrambling for his defection from ADC into their parties. There has been calls from APGA, from PDP, overtures from APC, and even from YPP.”
Our informant however said that being a very principled man, Ughamadu has refused to accept the invitations despite its coming with very attractive terms and conditions.
He said “But because of his loyalty to the party Chairman first of all, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, loyalty to the party, and of course, one who has strong history of Christian upbringing and principles, who is not just a Christian, but so a pastor of so may years, he decided not to accept. But the pressure has been so much and the offers have been very tempting, but he stuck to his principles.
“Those who have approached him are very big shots in these parties, you will be surprised if I mention names of the people who have called him to defect and join their parties.
“Loyalty and Principles come before everything, and thats why he is still sticking in”.
“There have been strong temptations from the major parties to defect and to cross over, but he has refused to be moved”, he stated.
When our correspondent reached out to the renowned Pastor, he agreed that he has received overtures and pressures to defect but that he is not moving anywhere.
He cited principles of loyalty and steadfastness which was formed from childhood as his reason.
