A yet to be identified woman has poured boiled hot water on the breast of her daughter for a yet to be disclosed reason.
The incident which occured on 7th January 2022, took residents by surprise, as the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
On her discharge from the hospital,
Comrade Israel Joe, Secretary,
Delta State Committee for Defense of Human Rights (CDHR), took a swipe on the woman, leading to her arrest.
A post by Comrade Joe, revealed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Police Divisional headquarters, led a cracked team in company of welfare officers from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, apprehended the suspect.
According to the post, “The DPO Ekpan Divisional Headquarters, Delta State CSP Bulus Rimamchirika Musa today assisted us in arresting a woman who poured boiled water on the breast of her daughter in Ekpan.
“The incident happened on the 7th of January, 2022 and we had to wait until the girl was discharged from hospital yesterday before taking action.
“I had called the DPO yesterday night, intimating him of the incident and he promised to join us in seeking justice for the young girl. I drew the attention of my senior comrade, Pastor Egedegbe Edewor yesterday and he reported it also to the commissioner for women affairs, Delta State who detailed the welfare officer of Warri to accompany us for the arrest.
“We led a team of Police from Ekpan division to arrest the suspect this morning and she is cooling off right now at Ekpan Police station.
He appreciated the state Commissioner of Police CP Ari Mohammed Ali, DSP Benedicta Okafor and other members of their team who assisted the move for justice for the young girl.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (DSP) Bright Edafe, said “I am not aware”, but promised to confirm the incident.
