This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja, on Monday 15th February 2021, by Prince Nwoko, following the emergence of the Ogwashi-Uku born Okonjo-Iweala as Director-General (DG), of WTO, the first female and first African to mount the saddle of the global trade body.
Nwoko said it was a welcome development that clearly underlined Nigerian indomitable spirit of resilience and Anioma strength of character and integrity.
The former Member of House of Representatives stated that a glorious dawn beckoned to WTO, with the reputation of Dr. Okonjo -Iweala as an incorruptible development economist and world bank veteran.
The international community, according to Nwoko would be better served while Nigeria’s economy would gain revival on the home front as an illustrious daughter lead global trade and investment under a difficult era of pandemic and lockdown.
“The appointment of my dear sister and respected patriot, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as head of World Trade organization stands historic. It is a giant leap for Nigeria and Africa. This is indeed one of Nigeria’s finest moments in the face of misleading negative stereotypes in the global stage.
“In her brilliance, tenacity of purpose and love for her country, Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has shown that greatness and excellence are enduring traits embedded in Nigeria. I congratulate her for the rare honour and prestige she inspired.
“She is a pace setter and role model to millions of Nigerians and Africans who desire dignity in service. I share all optimism that she has the clout and moral rectitude to perform and excel.
