Chief Justice Of Nigeria Tanko, Resigns

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has resigned following a petition signed by 14 justices of the Supreme Court.

Tanko, resigned on Monday morning June 26th 2022* making him the second Apex Court top judge to quit in about four years, following Walter Onnoghen controversial resignation in 2019.

He tendered his resignation amid corruption allegations after frantic move to appease the 14 justices hit brick walls in an overnight meeting attended by topnotch of the Supreme Court.

Tanko, who is billed to retire 31st December 2023, bowed out on health grounds.
