While the Asaba kingdom is yet to come over the death of the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi (Prof) Chike Endozien, who joined his ancestors, the Iyase of Asaba (Obi) Chief Patrick Onyeobi, has gone to join his forefathers.
The demise of the deceased was confirmed by one of the children vis a WhatsApp message, saying “yes, it’s true”.
The tragic incidence occured onthe night of Monday 22nd April 2024.
Although, details of his death is still sketchy, the former Head of Service and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), to the defunct Bendel State, had his last birthday on August 7th 2023.
The nonagenarian, until his death was a staunch adherence to Asaba Kingdom customs and his long-term contributions to the growth of the capital city.
Chief Onyeobi’s enduring imprints on the sands of time is a powerful symbol of Asaba’s traditional institution.
He died at the age of 90 years.
