THE STORY BREAKING NEWS: 6, 558 Students Fail JSS3, Placement Examinations In Delta

No fewer than 836 students out of the 82, 117, who registered for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), failed in Delta State.

A total of 70, 458 passed the examination with 2, 396 students were absent, while 8425 are to resit the examination in the state.

Also, out of the 107, 089 primary 6 pupils registered for the Cognitive/Placement Examination, 53, 773 had distinction, 42, 314 got merit, 2, 753 came out with pass, 5, 722 failed, while 2, 527 pupils were absent.

Similarly, the State Model School Entrance Examination for admission into JS1, had 4,152 pupils who sat for the examination while JS 2 had 357 students for admission. 635 students sought for admission into SS 1 and 144 students for admission into SS 2.

This was disclosed Friday 20th November 2020, Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education which released the results of the three examinations  conducted by the ministry.

A statement by the Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, who is in charge of the ministry, Mr. Patrick Ukah, in Asaba, advised pupils and students who sat for any of the examinations to access their results online using the specific scratch cards for the examination.

Mr. Ukah revealed that candidates who have resit in BECE are expected to start registration for the resit examination immediately.

Admission would be based on the cut-off marks set out for each school by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

It would be recall that pupils and students sat for the 2019/2020 Cognitive/Placement Examination, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the State Model School Entrance Examination across the state.
