Following concluded plans by the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration to seek Public Private Partnership in running the three new universities in the state, the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has take a swipe on the government.

Arising from its monthly NUJ Congress held on Thursday June 24th 2021, at the temporary Secretariat, Union in a Communique’, pointed out that the plan would cause joblessness.

The Union, also stated that the PPP Model, would defeat the main purpose of establishing the universities in Anwai, Agbor and Ozoro.

“The Union frowned at the proposed public private partnership being recommended by the Prof. Patrick Muoboghare-led management committee for the running of the newly created universities, as this would discourage easy access to university education by qualified Deltans, thereby defeating the main purpose of establishing the universities in Anwai, Agbor and Ozoro.

“Also, adopting a PPP model might lead to job loss for existing academic and non-academic staff, thereby increasing the alarming rate of unemployment in the state”, the Communique’ added.
