Three Years After STEPreneur Akaba, Tells Her Success Story

A beneficiary of the Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP), who measured in Hairdressing and Makeover, Akaba Patra, said she is fulfilled being her own boss.

Patra, a graduate of Accounting from the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Ricky Makeover and Cosmetics.

Patra, who already acquired a skill in Makeover and Bead making, before venturing into the STEP programme, hails from Ughelli north local government area of the State.

Patra, who is a beneficiary of the Brown STEP, is an entrepreneur, a trainer and a beautician.

Hear her: “Before my enrolment into Brown STEP, I had knowledge of makeover, tying of gele and bead making. Brown STEP exposed me to production of bridal hand fan, facial treatment, cap wig and braiding.

“Since my establishment, I have trained ten persons who have started their own businesses. I currently have two trainees and one employee.

“The impact of being my own boss has been amazing and fulfilling. I enjoy lots of patronage and the payment by clients have been rewarding.

“My family is so happy with me and has always commended the job creation programme. My clients are also satisfied with the quality service I render. I am now married too.

“I have expanded my shop. I have also diversified into the sale of beauty products and transportation business. I owe a tricycle.

“I remain grateful to Governor Okowa for training and establishing me with quality starter pack to own and manage my business”, she added.
