Tension Mount As Two Motorcyclists Collide With Mini Bus In Delta

There was tension as two motorcycle riders identified as Hausa indigenes, have been rushed to a yet unknown hospital after colliding with a mini bus along the popular Ibusa Road, Oshimili north local government area of Delta State.

Trouble started on the eve of Tuesday July 13th 2021, as the two motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada Riders, rode against traffic with while carrying their passengers.

Eyewitnesses said the two cyclists were following each other while the bus was coming from Ibusa direction.

An eyewitness disclosed that he had crossed the road halfway, when the accident occurred.

“I was about to cross but I decided to observe before entering the road. I was just halfway into the road when I heard a loud sound behind me. I was shocked, I was only able to shout God.

“I saw one of the Okada riders in the air, he fell on the front windscreen of the bus. While the other one fell on the ground”.

Another eyewitness said he saw all what happened as he was at one of the shops along the road.

According to him, “the Okada rider at the front looked behind. Maybe trying to talk to his brother when he rammed into the bus. The bus driver tried to dulge but it was already too late”.

One of the occupants of the bus who simply identified himself as John, said: “the two cyclists rode against traffic. They were on speed and it look as if they were trying to compete”, he said.

Meanwhile, the bus driver ran for fear of been lynched by their brothers who were bent on destroying the bus.

The angry Hausa motorcycle riders, have mobilized to the scene to set the bus ablaze but were prevented by some Igbo Good Samaritans.

The Igbo boys later rolled the bus away towards Koka Junction to avoid the Hausa boys from razing it down.

It would be recall that two weeks ago, a vehicle was also burnt down by the Hausa boys after one of their brothers, an Okada rider was equally knocked down.

Residents and road users have called on the government to do something about the one way riding before it would be too late.

At press time, The Story, could not confirm whether they were dead or responding to treatment.
