The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has convey the union’s warm felicitations to all members, individual patrons, corporate, government stakeholders and the public on this year’s yuletide.
A statement on Monday December 25th 2023 jointly signed by the Council chairman and Secretary, Comrade Churchill Oyowe and Vomrade Victor Sorokwu respectively called on members to reflect on the true essence of the season.
“No doubt, the end of every year comes with inexplicable effervescence; a flurry of social activities fun, and excitement.
“A time for merry-making, social travels, tours, and visitations to be with loved ones, friends, and associates.
“However, we implore everyone to reflect on the intrinsic essence of the season, especially the Christmas celebration.
“It is universally acclaimed as the season of the ecclesiastical birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
“It’s our hope and prayer that the ultimate reason for the season would find true bearing and expression on lives, society, and entire humanity.
“On this reflective note, we advise our members to go about their social activities with a Christlike disposition, moderation, and charity.
“Yes, it is a season to give and show unfeigned, agape love, one to another. So, let’s endeavour to reach out in love and charity among members, friends, loved ones, and the needy around us.
“The NUJ Delta Council leadership prays that as we celebrate this Christmas in peace, health, and well-being, the good Lord will usher us all into the New Year – 2024 – wholesome and none of us shall be missing in Jesus’ Name”, the statement added.
