Itsekiri Nation Ends 14 Days Mourning Rituals

As part of their rituals, the Itsekiris worldwide, has ended the 14 days of mourning which was part of the final rites of passage for His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli.

The event which took place at the early hours of Saturday July 3rd 2921 at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiris saw different Itsekiri commuties displaying the rich cultural heritage of the Iwere people in honour of their departed monarch.

There has been “unusual” influx of sons and daughters of Iwere nation both at home and in the diaspora to Ode-Itsekiri since the commencement of the rites.

Ogiame Ikenwoli, who has been variously described as a peace loving father whose reign brought remarkable development to his people, joined his ancestors last December.

Ogiame Ikenwoli ascended the throne on the 12th of December, 2015, after the demise of Ogiame Atuwatse the 19th Olu of Warri who reigned for 28years.
