He lamented that the fight for the recognition of the Ijaw nation by former warlord leader, Government Ekpemupolo and others, resulting into recognition was not fully utilized to the benefit of the region.
According to Napoleon, “Are the Ijaws and our political leaders still looking up to Tompolo and other ex agitators to fight for us after all the sacrifices they have made to position people?
He regretted that political leaders of Ijaw extraction who are supposed to be forceful are rather voiceless in the system, “GOC and other war Lords, I am sorry to say, you guys raised the wrong, voiceless and fearful people in Ijaw nation.
“Is it that our leaders are saying, we should confront even our state government with arms before we can be developed? Was it not because of the exclusion of the Ijaw man in government, we fought and lost so many of our brothers and friends?
“Why are we still suffering from underdevelopment, when we have been given a space in government? Something is really going wrong.
He said he has not been able to fathom why some of them were elected or appointed into offices as their presence are yet to be felt
“I never knew the idea of electing or appointment you people to represent the Ijaw people is a big mistake that will cost us the huge regret.
“We agitated that we’re not in government and the government heard our agitations and created political space for us, yet we are still suffering from underdevelopment and why?
“If those persons that took up the arm struggle that were tagged to be illiterate could fight to bring development and literates to bear, why are those literate that are in privilege political positions through the struggle trying to act below the illiterate?
He pointed out that no Ijaw son would fight for them to be relevant again as they lack the capacity to represent the interest of the Ijaw nation.
“I know our freedom fighters are regretting to have you people as our representatives because of your weak and docile nature.What has taken that Ijaw spirit from you people? Is it selfishness, wickedness, greed or what? Napoleon queried.
He wondered why political and appointed political leaders could not replicate the dividends of the struggle in Delta State, “If the Ijaw man could hold the federal government to standstill, why can’t we replicate same in Delta State?More so when we have people in government and in a government we worked hard to install”, he bemoaned.
