The State Head Of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko has described the growth of the Civil Service as Phenomenal and evolving in terms of Size, quality service delivery and productivity.
Mr. Bayoko who stated this during a live telecast interview on Wednesday with Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS Asaba, disclosed that the Civil Service has gone past the mundane process where the activities were more manually driven to a gradual evolvement into automation in services.
He added that there was alot of development in terms of personnel, attitude and delivery of service; expecially in fulfilling the vision of the political masters to the public.
Speaking on the values the new Secretariat Complex had contributed to enhance the productivity and efficiency of Civil Servants, the HoS reiterated that there was a nexus between a good working environment and the performance of staff.
Responding on the issue of ghost workers syndrome, Mr. Bayoko stated that the syndrome had been eliminated by the biometric exercise and the electronic attendance register.
On the performance of civil servants on service delivery, the HOS scored the Civil Servants high, stating that the average Civil servants were doing credibly well to deliver on the agenda of government while affirming the supreme Court judgement that interpreted the position of the law on civil servants participating in party politics.
Mr. Bayoko urged retirees who were yet to receive their pension benefit to be patient as Government was working out plans to clear the backlog while reaffirming the position of government on promotion arrears which he explained has been handled through prompt processing of all promotions.
On the housing needs of workers, the number one civil servants in the state disclosed that apart from the public housing loan welfare scheme initiative of government, his office was also collaborating with the Ministry of housing and other private property developers as part of the social housing initiative to provide affordable houses to civil servants.
The HOS who answered questions on other issues affecting civil servants including training and retraining, clarified that the seven weekend management course organized annually for officers at the threshold of being promoted to salary grade level 15, was a significant leadership and management training for officers transiting into the Directorate level.
