The John Oyibokwifi Foundation has taken full financial responsibility of an accident victim, Mr. Ochuko Oduare, who was knocked down by a hit and run driver in the year 2020 while riding his motorcycle, popularly known as Okada, along Okparabe road, Ughelli south local government area of Delta State.
The Chief Executive Officer CEO, of the foundation, Mr. John Oyibokwifi, disclosed that he met the victim for the first time on 20th January 2021, in Ughelli south crawling like a new born baby, helpless, asserting that though his situation was sorrowful but not hopeless.
The Foundation revealed that Mr. Oduare, broke his right leg femur (the thigh bone) and the left leg tibia and fibula (both long bones located in the lower left leg).
The CEO, noted that the accident caused Mr. Ochuko, to live in a terrible condition for about a year before he met him on that fateful day.
According to him, “We made a decision on the spot to help Mr. Ochuko regain the use of his legs fully, God willing. The foundation took over his welfare in February 2021”.
Touched by the ugly condition of Mr. Oduare, the foundation moved swiftly and sponsored his Orthopedic surgery in September this year.
“On the 30th September 2021, The John Oyibokwifi Foundation intervened by sponsoring Mr. Ochuko to The National Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi, Lagos for an Orthopedic Surgery. Since then, he has also underwent other follow-up surgeries both at Lagos and Ughelli.
“The foundation has also engaged the services of good physiotherapists to help with the process of his recovering from the correctional surgeries that he has had, and also to fast track the process of getting him to walk in the most practicable time”.
While expressing gratitude to God for for the journey so far, he said: “We are grateful to God for the success so far achieved In getting Mr Ochuko to walk again.
“Two days ago I paid him a visit at the hospital and I am filled with joy seeing how well he is progressing and also see him standing on his feet again.
“The joy in his face has further strengthen my faith and resolve to continue to be God’s proverbial Right hand, touching those in need of his love. When we made the decision to be fully responsible for the treatment and wellbeing of Mr Ochuko, it was not as if the entire money was available for this humongous project then.
“But as it is, we left it to God to do the supply of the funds if what we are about to do is according to his will. Three months on, in something that we can term a miracle, God has provided for us all through the the different processes.
It is our prayer as a Foundation that God will continue to provide for us so that we can continue to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in distress as much more as we can attend to”, he added.
