As calls continue to grow for the youths to be considered and given their pride of place, the need for them to be empowered has been harped on.

The Special Assistant on Youth Development to the Delta state governor, Amb. Elvis Akpobi, stated this while reviewing the happenings around the country in recent times.

Amb. Akpobi, who is the Executive Director, Not Too Young To Lead Initiative, pointed out that a helpless youth remains a danger to the immediate environment.

He called on the youths to use their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), to bring in the right leaders of their dreams.

He sized the medium to call on the youths to stop vandalizing government assets.

Hear him: “There are times when we make history, and there are time when history makes us.

“This is a crucial moment for our nation and we have made history as Young Nigerians despite the struggle continues.

“For far too long the wealthest 1% have seen their fortunes only grow,  while the rest of the nation mostly young people live in abject poverty and stagnantion .

“We all know the stories, young people despirate to leave the country, Italy for prostitution,  advance fee fraud on the internet, No signs of youth engagement in leadership, there is very little to be inspired by in our today Nigeria.

“I always ask my self, what if I wasn’t privilege to be an aide, maybe I will be among millions of young people with good certificates, innovation roaming helplessly on the street not sure of the next meal.

“That needs to change, as young Nigerians we have in the past two weeks shown the world and our  leaders who undermined us that every youth has a voice no one is voice less, but the values that we hold dear to our hearts represents who we are as youths.

“I have always reiterated that there is no force more powerful than an empowered, inspired youth likewise there is no force more dangerous than a helpless and hopeless youth,  he is a ticking timebomb, because he sees no value in himself.

“But we have made our points, we must come not allow mischief makers take advantage of this struggle. If we continue burning down private and public properties there will be a ripple effect on us,  our brothers and sisters that work there will be jobless, other new govt projects will be kept on hold.

“What we need now is to restratigize and continue demanding  peacefully from those we have contracted governance (including me) to with our votes, while we make sure we get our PVCs to run bad leaders out office with this same unity, oneness and vigor we have displayed for the past days.

“Stop the violence and destruction.. We have sent signals, they have received it. Brace up, a better Nigeria is possible”, he admonished.
