Egbo Flags Off Massive Campaign Against Measles In Ughelli North

Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government, Hon. Jaro Egbo has flagged off the 2024 Integrated Measles Vaccine Campaign against ailment for children within the age bracket of 9- 59 months.

The event which took place on Thursday October 9, 2024, at Ekiugbo primary Healthcare centre is aimed at reducing the ravaging effect of the contagious communicable disease, caused by morbilli virus.

The flag-off of the measles vaccine exercise is a component strategy at sensitising mothers and caregivers on the need to vaccinate their children and wards under five years with the measles vaccine, which confers immunity against the disease on the recipients.

Hon. Egbo, at the event, reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring quality healthcare delivery across Ughelli north local government area.

The Council boss enjoined parents, caregivers and community leaders to bring out all eligible children for vaccination in order to protect them from the menace of the deadly disease and also to curb its spread among children of 9 months to 59 months, irrespective of previous vaccination status.

Responding, the Chief Nursing Officer of Ekiugbo primary Healthcare centre, Mrs. Eno Emashaye commended the Council boss for his transformative leadership in ensuring that health care services across all primary Healthcare centres in the Local Government were functional.

Highlight of the event was the administering of the measles vaccine by the Council Chairman and health workers.
