Renowned Niger Delta human and environmental rights activist, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has applauded the efforts of High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, Engr. Mathew Tonlagha, Managing Director of Maton Oil and Gas Services Ltd, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Limited, and others for their contributions to the development of riverine communities in Delta State.
The Delta State-born peace and development advocate commended these prominent sons of the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area for their commitment to improving infrastructure and empowering residents of coastal communities as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Chief Mulade Sheriff, a United Nations Peace Ambassador and the Ibe-Serimowei of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, urged all stakeholders in riverine communities to fully support and cooperate with ongoing efforts to enhance development infrastructure.
He highlighted the importance of these initiatives, particularly in light of Tantita’s continued surveillance operations across the region.
“It is imperative to state that the coastal communities, which serve as the backbone of the nation’s economy, have been grossly neglected by federal and state governments despite their immense contributions.
These areas have endured significant environmental degradation, including oil and gas pollution, marine erosion, and the loss of traditional fishing and farming rights,” Sheriff remarked.
He went on to praise the efforts of Tompolo, Engr. Mathew Tonlagha, and Engr. Kestin Pondi, saying:
“I sincerely commend their dedication to advancing the development of riverine communities through infrastructural projects and human empowerment.
“I am also deeply grateful for their role in restoring our environment through the Tantita Security Surveillance Contracts.”
Sheriff emphasized the critical importance of preserving the Niger Delta environment for future generations, urging the continuation of current efforts.
“I appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to sustain the Tantita Security Surveillance Contracts to boost the nation’s oil production and maintain the relative peace in the Niger Delta,” he added.
