Delta Community Cries Out Over Abandoned Road Project

Ashama Community in Aniocha south local government area of Delta State, has lamented the recklessness with which Bube Dan Global Resources, jetted out of the Ubulu-Unor-Ashama-Egbudu-Akah and Ekukwu Agbor roads project allegedly awarded to the company by the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.

The Community recall that the former National Assembly administration through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), 2011, had awarded the same road project to Elupet and Greenfield assets Nigeria Ltd but was abandoned which promoted the state governor reawarding it to Bube Dan Global Resources.

A post by a Facebook user, Oyem Jonathan Emmaculate N, with the title: “WHAT’S THE OFFENCE OF ASHAMA COMMUNITY IN ANIOCHA SOUTH?, Emmaculate, disclosed that the agrarian Community has suffered untold hardship, resulting in the inability of farm produce to be transported to the urban cities for market, as a result of the attitude of the contractors.

The present deplorable state of Ashama Community road in Aniocha south local government area of Delta State

Ashama kingdom in Aniocha south is known as a peaceful agrarian kingdom.

She has over the years been one of the major enhancers of the States food bank through it’s agro food production.

In party politics, the kingdom is known for her participatory activities not minding that successive govt has neglected it’s call for the rehabilitation of her road.

One thing that remains a mystery  to this loving kingdom is that; during elections, the govt will remember them through asking of their votes, regrettably after helping out to secure the victory in her own strength and might in the said election, she is left in reckless abandonment.

Giving this concern, the former national assembly administration via NDCC 2011 awarded the road project to Elupet and Greenfield assets Nigeria Ltd respectively to construct ubulu-Unor -Ashama-Egbudu akah and Ekukwu Agbor roads.

At the preliminary stages of the construction work, the various companies earlier mentioned absconded leaving the road as a death trap and movement to this agrarian kingdom became a dilemma prompting difficulty in the conveyance of  agro foods.

The community did not fall back to sleep as they made frantic moves to ensure that the contractors returns to site.

I could vividly remember that one Mr Harrison Ilomechine the then ward 7 chairman of PDP Nsukwa/Ashama with his exco members had  written deluge of protest letters asking the contractors to man up the job given to them yet,it appeared they were pouring water on a casted stone.

I could vividly remember that one Mr Harrison Ilomechine the then ward 7 chairman of PDP Nsukwa/Ashama with his exco members had  written deluge of protest letters asking the contractors to man up the job given to them yet,it appeared they were pouring water on a casted stone.

Again, luck smiled on Ashama kingdom with the electoral victory of our Anioma son Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa who reawarded  this same road project to another construction company, Bube Dan Global Resources (BDGR) with a clear mandate to speed up the road project completion.

As you read this, the said contractor has vanished to the thin air making another history of serial abscondment and on this note, hence the need for this alarm.

As we advocate for good governance, it would be a disservice to see these abscondee contractors  keep our people in perpetual hardship in plying the road.

We should also remember that the road project was not awarded to a Northern man,at least, it would have been viewed from the prism of ethnicity as that is the craze for the polarization in the nation.

But this project was awarded to some of our brothers whom we share our daily lives with. So help take the message to them to come and do  the needful.

The pains of the road users is a direct curse on them if nothing is done to save this community from gnashing their tooth on this death trap road.

Save Ashama people, they are our brothers and sisters.
