The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi (Prof) Chike Endozien has joined his ancestors.
The announcement of the passing on of the great monarch was done on Tuesday February 13th 2024, at the palace ground in Asaba, Delta State capital.
The announcement of Asagba’s passage was followed by a procession led by the Odogwu of Asaba.
Meanwhile, all markets and business premises within Asaba were closed down as a mark of respect for the revered Asagba.
On behalf of the Asaba Community, the Odogwus of the five quarters made incantations which was rounded up by the Odogwu.
It was also greeted with the shooting of 21 gunpowder outside the palace with the observation of a minute silence.
The announcement that the Asagba had joined his ancestors was done in the presence of palace Chiefs, Children of the Asagba without the Crown Prince, relatives and subjects.
Announcing the passing of the Asagba of Asaba, Chief Patrick. N. C Ndili, the Ihonor of Asaba and Palace secretary, said: “With heavy hearts, we announce the transition unto eternal glory of our highly revered royal father, Asagba (Prof) Joseph Chike Endozien CFR, MD, D.SC, FRCP, FRC.PATH, GAS, JP The Asagba of Asaba kingdom.
“He was ages 100 years and the 13th Asagba of Asaba who ascended the throne as the Asagba of Asaba on 1st July 1991.
“May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord
“Burial arrangements to be announced by his family and the Asaba Kingdom at a later date.
“The release was signed by Dr. Anthony Onuora Edozien, Chief Patrick NC Ndili, the Ihonor of Asaba and Palace Secretary and Obi Chief PIG Onyeobi, the Iyase of Asaba kingdom”, he added
