A family of three was killed in a horrific head-on collision at Oteri Junction, Ughelli north local government area of Delta State.
Trouble started on Monday February 6th 2023, when a Jeep occupied by a yet to be identified pastor and his wife rammed into a motorcycle popularly known as Okada, conveying a pregnant woman, her husband and a baby.
It was learnt that the Okada operator with his passengers were coming from the Central Hospital end of Oteri road while the pastor and his wife were coming from the Olomu end when the accident happened.
The scene where the accident occured on the road, has a failed patched spot with a make-shift store on the right while coming from the Central Hospital end and on the left while coming from the Olomu end of the road.
The fatal crash claimed the lives of the pregnant woman, the husband, the baby and scores of others passerbys including those in the shop where the Jeep finally rammed into.
But it could not be unearth whether the owner(s) were among those that died in the accident.
The shop where the Jeep rammed into, was completely brought down as if it was a Bulldozer that carried out demolition on the shop.
Although eyewitnesses could not ascertain the course of the accident, some people blamed it on what they termed: “Yahoo Pastor”.
The yet to be identified family and many others were said to have died on the spot while the pastor and his wife survived the accident.
Not much was said about the Okada operator but it was gathered that his helmet was shattered while the motorcycle was damaged beyond repair.
A source said he saw the pastor’s Jeep at the Command, “A” Division of the Ughelli Police Station where he went to see someone.
At press time, efforts to hear from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), proved abortive.
