BEDC MUST GO: Property Owners Give Company 24 Hours Ultimatum

61
All seems not to be well with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), as landlords and landladies have issued a 24 hour ultimatum to the company or face their wrath.

This is part of agreement reached on Monday May 24th 2021, during the meeting of the body in Ika south and Ika north east local government areas of the state.

The Agbor Business Unit Manager, Engr. Amos Bamgboje, has been directed by property owners in Ika to pay back monies the company allegedly extorted from residents with promises of free prepaid meters.

According to the group, if at the expiration of the ultimatum, the distribution company failed to repay monies it collected in the name of installing free prepaid meters, it should be ready to face the consequences of its action.

Last year, rumour filtered into town that Benin Electricity Distribution Company, has purportedly made available free prepaid meters for every compound.

The development caused a mad rush for the payment of the free prepaid meters.

Some landlords and landladies across the state who could not afford the meter on their own due to the harsh economy, taxed their tenants in order to raise the money for the “Almighty prepare meter”, which were allegedly not supplied.
