Victims of Saturday October 23 road crash along Benin-Lagos route, who travelled with Libra Motors, have been presented with cheque of N108, 500, as support, under the Delta State Passengers’ Welfare Scheme.
Presenting the cheque to the victims’ families Thursday October 28, on behalf of the state government, Commissioner for Transport, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana, Esq, said the government was ever ready to support any accident victim, who key into the state Passengers’ Welfare Scheme.
Hon. Ganagana, urged Deltans to embrace the Scheme, stressing that it is to protect the people from the unexpected in any part of the country, as long as the commercial vehicle’s company is registered with the scheme and takes off from the state.
Consultant to the state government, Engr. Egogo Lawrence, noted that the Scheme, was fully determined to compensate accident victims within and outside state.
Engr. Lawrence, encouraged transporters to key into the scheme, assuring that the scheme was on ground to give medical care to passengers.
Manager, Libra Motors, Warri, Mike Oriri, who received the cheque on behalf of management of the transport company and victims, commended the scheme handlers and the state government, for their swift response.
He advised other transport companies to as a matter of urgency, identify with the scheme for better welfare coverage of their passengers.
