A young enterprising show business Deltan and Chief Executive Officer of 2Things Promotion, Edirin Obada has taken it upon himself to promote the beautiful and attractive native attire of the Anioma people of Delta State,  otherwise known as ‘Akwa Ocha’ during the Delta Music Comedy and Fashion Expo, coming up on the 15th of April, 2022, at the Event Centre, Asaba, Delta State.

Obada on Thursday 17th February,  2022, led members of his team on a courtesy visit to the Omu Anioma to intimate her of his planned project and seek her blessing as a renowned Akwa Ocha Ambassador.

The young Edirin Obada affirmed that he has always looked out for Omu Dunkwu in events and always felt proud the way she usually dresses in Akwa Ocha,  adding that the Royal Mother has not only mentored him but influenced him into doing what he is planning to do, as a way of supporting her to showcase the Akwa Ocha to the world.

The CEO said the event is going to be an exclusive display of Akwa Ocha,  where various fashion designers will prove their creativity by sewing different designs of the Akwa Ocha to exhibit for people to see, appreciate and patronise the fabric the more.

“We can’t do this event without your blessing and also having you around on that day to say something about the Akwa Ocha which you are known as the Brand Ambassador”  Edirin posited.

Responding, Omu Anioma commended the effort of Edirin and his team,  insisting that it takes courage and determination for a young man to plan to execute such a massive capital intensive exhibition.

Her words, “I commend you dear and feel proud of you. I know what it takes to promote an identity. I have spent so much to promote the Akwa Ocha and propagate our culture, because I felt as Omu in the past 20 years that a people without culture are naked. And again, if we didn’t have anything that distinguishes us as a people, it then means we don’t have identity. Akwa Ocha represents our identity; it has ecstatic value and makes us unique as Anioma people. So, I took it upon myself to ensure that the world hears about us and knows about us as Anioma people by our dressing.

“My dear,  what you are doing is to open up the avenue for other young ones who peradventure had not keyed into this identity promotion project to do so. We have done so much, it is left for those who have been mentored and have imbibed our ideals to follow suit and make it a going project.

“I will tell you a story. There was a State House event at the International Conference Centre Abuja, where those of us in NACCIMA were invited. When I entered and sat at the place meant for us, all of a sudden, a protocol guy came and asked me to leave the place and go to the front. I said no, how possible is that, there is already a tape demarcating where we were and the front roll meant for the President and other highly placed dignitaries.  The guy insisted and said no, I quite understand protocol too, except you tell me your reason I am not leaving here.

“And I saw another senior protocol guy walked up to me and said, Madam, please, you have to move to the front as ordered by Mr. President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. He said the President before coming had already seen the guests on TV and called to inquire of the woman who dressed in such a magnificent manner and they told him.

“Then he asked that I should leave there and come to the front over the tape. That was when I was convinced and had to move to the roll where the President and others were. What am I trying to say here, our Akwa Ocha is very unique, it shows dignity,  respectability and brings out the royalty in us.

“So, you must get the Akwa Ocha itself exhibited on that day. Don’t capitalise on the Fashion designs alone, ensure that you have the Akwa Ocha and also those that weave it manually should be around to display their ingenuity. What you are doing is good; if you did it right, you may continue to do it to the extent that you are known by it. Akwa Ocha is our eternal identity and we cannot treat it any less.

“People from all over the world are interested in diversity, because it keeps the world going. So don’t be deterred, you may as well go international based on the promotion of Akwa Ocha”, Omu Anioma advised.

As the Ambassador of Akwa Ocha,  Omu Dunkwu endorsed the project and prayed for the team to succeed in their endeavour.

Among those that came with the CEO of 2Things Promotiom is the popular Anioma renowned MC Babawale.
