THE STORY EXCLUSIVE: Again, Death Trap Looms In Agbor Community

Barely three weeks after a gas explosion rocked Osadebe Gas Plant, killing scores in Agbor, Ika south local government area of Delta State, there seemed to be another death trap if the concern authorities continue to fold their hands.

It was learnt that a Steel Communication Mast located at a very densely populated area, Agbor Palace Junction, mounted in 1945 was at the verge of being removed by persons suspected to be vandals.

The Story, gathered that the suspected vandals started the cutting of the base of the over 600 feet telecommunication mast.

It was reliably gathered that trouble started on Saturday 7th February 2021, when the vandals allegedly hired by some prominent individuals in the area swoop on the mast on the evening of the faithful day.

The mast which is purportedly within the boundary of the office of the local security outfit, is the property of Post and Telecommunication Company (P&T).

The name later changed to  the defunct Nigeria Telecommunication Limited (NITEL).

It was learnt that two of the four bases of the mast have been successfully disengaged making its collapse very easy.

A reliable source hinted that one of the three vandals has been napped while the remaining three are still at large.

At press time, The Story, could not ascertain whether the arrest was effected by the police or the local security outfit.
