A teacher identified as Mr. Christian Oruanayeri, has impregnated a JSS2 student (name withheld) of Otovwodo Grammar School, Ughelli north local government area of Delta State, The Story, can authoritatively report.
The student, 14 years old, was forcefully expelled by the principal, Mr. Onovughe Felix, after the parents of the girl had allegedly raised an alarm over the uncontrollable sexual habit of the teacher.
Impeccable sources in the Ministry of Education in Ughelli, revealed that the teacher was arrested and detained by the police in ‘B’ Division, Agbarha-Otor.
However, it was learnt that the school principal purportedly frustrated the parents as the case was swept under the carpet.
It was gathered that the Director, Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), in Ughelli, Mrs. Basil Iwhiwhu called and ordered the principal of the school to reinstate the expelled student.
Investigation further revealed that the girl’s parents who are unhappy with the ugly development, are exploring other avenues where they could get justice for the professional misconduct of the teacher.
Confirming the report, the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE), Ughelli north, Mrs. Eduvie, said: “the issue if the pregnancy, I have reported to the ministry already.
“But the police is handling the case, they have been going to the police station. However the police did not bother to call me but I reported to the ministry that this is what happened”.
In a related development, it has also been alleged that the same principal and his Exam Officer, have swindled a philanthropist (Name withheld), who enrolled 100 students for the forthcoming Junior School Examinations Certificate JSCE, but only enrolled 40 students and yet, demanding another enrollment fees from the students.
The Delta born philanthropist had paid the sum of N600, 000 into one of the teachers Zenith Bank 406*****257 account for the enrollment of 100 JSS3 students and after enrolling them, the principal, Dr. Onovughe Felix, and his Exam Officer, Omorogbe Judith went ahead to extort the students same money.
The payment was made on January 11, 2023 at about 1:49:31on the said day.
An angry parent who spoke to newsmen alleged that, my child came back from school and told us that their JSS3 enrollment have been paid by someone, but surprisingly few weeks later, they came to tell us that the school is demanding for another enrollment fees.
It is not done and we will follow up “the matter to the end, we are aware that a cabal, led by one Mr Iteku is running the school with the principal.” He alleged.
Speaking on the issue, the CIE hinted: “the one of the money, I will call him and on Monday, I will go and investigate and I will ask the children”, she assured.
Contacted, the erratic principal who could not wait for the issues and questions to be raised, cuts in and said: “please, don’t call this line again, call my Post Primary Education Board chairman.
“They are the ones that will call me, I am not answerable to anybody but to my Post Primary Education Board chairman and my CIE.
“Those are the people I am answerable to, so call them. The person who gave you my number should as well also give you their numbers.
“So, don’t call my number again. If you want to come to the school, come and verify, don’t call this number again”, before hanging up the call.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright, when contacted said: the family of the victim withdrew the case with a sworn affidavit”
