#ENDSARAS: Panel’s Secretary Assures Of Equal Opportunity To Petitioners

Deltans and Nigerians who sent petitions to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the state government to look into all cases of police brutality, have been assured that their petitions would be given equal opportunities by the Panel.

The Secretary of the Hon. Justice Celestina Ogisi (rtd) led-Judicial Panel on Police Brutality and Extra-Judicial killing, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, a lawyer and Director in the Ministry of Justice, gave the assurance while speaking to journalists at the end of the panel sitting in Warri.

He said that the duty of the panel is to hear all petition as no one would be denied the right to be held.

He stated that the panel had tried to be fair to both petitioners and respondents, explaining that at the end of its sittings, the panel would sit to take position in each of the matters brought before it.

The Panel Secretary stressed that the duty of the panel was to ensure it capture what the grievances of petitioners and make recommendations based on the facts and not on emotions for government to take a position.

“The implementation of the Panel decisions. Or recommendations are not that of the Panel but that of the Government, the Panel is just to hear and make recommendation to the Government. We tried to hear everybody and afford them another opportunity to ventilate their claim”, Erebe hinted.
